Let's talk about life

What's this Grace Church thing all about?

General
What if I told you there's a church in Vegas that would accept you just as you are, no strings attached? That would show you (from the Bible) that God isn't ever mad at you and that He is actually very pleased with you? A church that would help you reach your full potential no matter how long it takes? Good News! Grace Church is here!

What if I told you there's a church in Vegas that would accept you just as you are, no strings attached? That would show you (from the Bible) that God isn't ever mad at you and that He is actually very pleased with you? A church that would help you reach your full potential no matter how long it takes?

Good News! Grace Church is here!

I don't know what you've heard about grace, but allow me to take a moment to share with you what grace means to us. For us, grace is the foundation for everything we do - how we live, how we treat one another, and how we relate to God our Father.

Have you ever visited a church and just felt out of place? The message left you feeling rotten, like God was so disappointed in you and you had a lot of work to do before you could be pleasing to Him. If not, consider yourself lucky. I've experienced that more times than I care to remember, and so has many of our partners here at Grace Church.

Let me share some good news with you: God is so pleased with you right now! He loves you more than you can understand. God loves all of humanity so much, He likes YOU so much that He makes His home in you. Every human being, without exception, black or white, male or female, straight or gay, old or young, rich or poor, is included in God's love and His life. There is nothing you can do to make God love you more - He's already totally obsessed with you.

At Freedom Life Grace Church you will only hear good news. We are a family that will celebrate with you during good times, and be there with you during challenges. We are building a community that loves, and loves well. You are invited to be a part of this exciting time.

Our Pastor dreamed of planting a church with a simple goal - helping people connect with God and each other so that they might reach their full potential. With the help of the Core Dream Team, Freedom Life Grace Church began its work on June 7, 2014. That first Saturday 1 person attended our first interest meeting. From the beginning, Freedom Life Grace Church focused on reaching out to the non-churched community by building relationships through spending time one-on-one outside of the building walls. The life-giving message of the Gospel, the passion and joy of services, and the unique style of Freedom Life Grace Church brought people together who had previously given up on "church."

We believe that life begins to be the most exciting, the most fulfilling, and the most fun when a person begins to connect to the purpose for which God made them. This connection simply begins with curiosity - "Is there a God and if so why did he make me?" - and it's followed by a step toward the Creator.

We invite you to see for yourself how exciting church can be when the focus is simple and people are free to go after God with passion!

OUR PURPOSE

"I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be

no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought."

- 1 Corinthians 1:10 (NIV)

WHY WE EXIST AS A CHURCH

The purpose statement of Freedom Life Grace Church is derived from the words of the Apostle Paul to the church at Corinth (2 Corinthians 5:18). These words are the application of Jesus' Great Commission (Mark 16:15).

Freedom Life Grace Church exists to introduce people to Jesus, share His life-giving message, facilitating the ministry of reconciliation.

THE GREAT COMMISSION

1. The gospel we preach is God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself.

2. Reconciling is restoring friendly relations between two or more parties.

3. Preaching is proclaiming or announcing.

4. "We are Christ's ambassadors" means we speak for God.

Jesus said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." - Mark 16:15

So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin) to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. - 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

We look forward to getting to know you… see you soon at Vegas' Grace Church.

Empty Nest Syndrome Depression, My Raw Perspective

It was pointed out by a reader that my post on “Empty Nest Sadness, Is It Real” (http://livecontentwithrawl.com/empty-nest-sadness-is-it-real) wasn’t raw enough and I wasn’t open enough. This is because I use comedy and laughter to cope with life. I especially use it regarding my children because they are my heart and soul. But being vulnerable about my personal true feelings on Empty Nest Syndrome Depression means taking the chance that I might fall into a deep depression that will be challenging to get out of or that I will be judged harshly.

Beginning of this school year 2015

My eldest, Jaelyn, is in her senior year of college. My second oldest, Jessika, is in her first year of college. The twins, Malique and Myles, are in their senior year of high school. I am nearing the end. But I’m sad because we don’t sit down to eat dinner together every night like we used to. This is because Jaelyn is at the studio, Jessika is at class and the twins are at basketball practice or doing their personal work out. So I make dinner but they all come in at different times to eat and a few days out of the week I eat alone. Is this what my future holds?

Baby Pictures

In my previous post there is a picture of all of them as newborns. It’s shocking that I posted these because for years I have avoided looking at their baby pictures. Most of the time when I see them I break out in tears because they’re not babies anymore…so I don’t look at them at all.

Loss of Purpose

I was reading somewhere that a child leaving causes a parent to feel a loss of purpose as a parent. This is what I’m feeling. I also read somewhere that if you had a bad marriage or divorce, were a full time parent, based your identity in being a parent, have difficulty accepting change or are moving away that you are more susceptible to this type of depression. I fall into all of these categories.

Hope

My website is living contently with Rawl. This means I’m the expert or I’m supposed to be the expert in living contently and living a full and happy life in spite of depression. And in spite of depression I’ve always had hope; hope that something will change, that seasons change and that what I may feel at this moment will change and my situation will change.

I’m at the beginning of my empty nest and getting a glimpse of what no children at home will look like and I don’t like it. But I will get through it and I will make it through the change and transition no matter how difficult it is.

Leave Your Thoughts

Respond if you’re going through what I’m going through or know someone who is; or share a time when you felt the an impending change might do you in and how you overcame.

As always…

~Be blessed~
