Spiritual Gifts - Healing

Sunday, June 12, 2016 • • Healing
This study looks at the gift of healing as a spiritual gift available to all who believe.

Foundation

All spiritual gifts work (operate) by faith (not logic) through love.

1 Corinthians 12:27-28 (NIV)

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.

The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, Because He did anoint me;

To proclaim good news to the poor, Sent me to heal the broken of heart,

To proclaim to captives deliverance, And to blind receiving of sight,

To send away the bruised with deliverance- Luke 4:18 (YLT)

Myths about Healing:

  1. Unconfessed sin stops healing. (Who sinned? John 9:1-3)
  2. You need more faith to be healed. (Lazarus John 11:38-44)
  3. Generational Curses (Galatians 3:10-14)
  4. Sickness builds Character (Babies)
  5. God doesn't want to heal everyone. (Jesus healed all. Acts 10:38)
  6. Some people have a healing anointing. (Believers. Mark 16:17-18)

Types of Healing:

  1. As they went. (Luke 17:14)
  2. Instant. (John 5:8-9)
  3. Medicinal. (1 Timothy 5:23; Ezekiel 47:12)
  4. Distance. (Psalm 107:20; Matthew 8:5-13)
  5. Emotional. (Proverbs 17:22)

"Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you."

"He himself bore our sins" in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; "by his wounds you have been healed." – 1 Peter 2:24

Final Thoughts

  • Spiritual gifts can be taught and learned
  • All gifts are within us
  • Faith level activates gifting level
  • ...healing doesn't always look the way we expect or want
